Accumulair filters are air filters designed to filter the entire
household. They each are electrostatically charged, come with a
specially designed pleated shape, and last up to three months.
Accumulair manufactures over 200 sizes of air filters, offering a large
variety of standard sizes for 1″
What is APR?
APR stands for Accumulair Performance Rating. This rating has been
established by the manufacturer of the Accumulair Filters. This rating
exists to demonstrate the different levels of efficiency throughout the
Accumulair filter line. Generally speaking, the higher the APR, the
better the filter performs in capturing small airborne particles. This
rating system is an internal rating system and applies to Accumulair
filters only.

Accumulair EMERALD is an air filter designed with better air quality and
higher filtration efficiency in mind. It is given an APR 450 filter
rating, which means that it is a medium-efficiency filter that removes
airborne particles smaller than 1 micron. This means that it removes a
large variety of indoor air pollutants, including dust mites, bacteria,
mold spores, pet dander, pollen, lint, and smoke.
Unlike regular fiberglass filters, the Accumulair EMERALD filter uses
electrostatic filtration, which is a special filtration media that uses
an electric charge to attract and trap air particles. The Accumulair EMERALD filter removes 20 times more
particles than ordinary fiberglass filters. Even with high particulate
efficiency, it manages to maintain low resistance to airflow. Accumulair
EMERALD filters are available in many different sizes, but they can also
be custom made to fit any desired filter system.

The construction of the Accumulair EMERALD filter is vital to the
filter’s performance and durability. It is constructed of 100% synthetic
material that provides excellent particulate efficiency with relatively
low resistance to airflow. The uniform pleated shape is intentionally
designed to maximize airflow and to enhance particle holding capacity.
This filter media is made chemical free, so it does not pose threats of
contaminating household air. Also, composed of hydrophobic fibers, this
filter does not support the growth of microbes like bacteria, mold,
mildew, or fungi.
The pleated filter media is laminated to a steel support that helps
prevent bending and warping of the filter from pressure as air moves
through the filter. The filter is then bonded to the inside of a heavy
duty board frame. This two-piece, die cut frame is constructed of a
heavy duty, moisture resistant, clay coated board and is designed with
horizontal and diagonal grid supports to add to the durability and
output of this filter.
How It Works:
Accumulair EMERALD filters use electrostatic filtration, which is a
special filtration media that is designed to provide higher efficiency
filtration. All regular fiberglass filters remove air pollutants from
air circulating inside, but they only manage to capture the bare
minimum. Electrostatic filters, such as the Accumulair EMERALD filters,
take filtration to an extra step. As air circulates through the HVAC
system, it passes through the electrostatic filter. The
electrostatically charged fibers work like tiny magnets to trap the
oppositely charged air particles, leaving purified air circulating
throughout the house.
Accumulair EMERALD filters can be installed in existing filter systems,
usually without any necessary modifications. Though Accumulair EMERALD
filters are often used as a primary filter, they can also serve as a
pre-filter for more expensive, higher efficiency filters in industrial
and commercial agencies (i.e. hospitals, plants, schools, office
buildings, etc.).
Accumulair EMERALD filters typically last about three months, but their
filter life depends on several factors. Air quality, rate of airflow,
types of allergens, and other factors all contribute to the length of
filter life. However, for maximum filtration output, it is important to
keep the filters replaced regularly because particles begin to build up
around the electrostatic fibers,
resulting in lower efficiency.
