10 commandments, Torah of Israel, as handed down by G-d to Moses and Israel on Mount Sinai. When Moses came down from the mountain he said to the people: Hear O Israel, t
his is the Torah, and here are the Ten commandments, words of G-D.
The Bible tells us that God Himself spoke the 10 Commandments from Mount Sinai and wrote them with his own finger on two tablets of stone:
“Thou shall have no other gods before me. Thou shall not make idols. Thou shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.”
(Exodus 20:1)

The Ten Commandments
concern matters of fundamental importance in Judaism and Christianity: the greatest obligation (to worship only God), the greatest injury to a person (murder), the greatest injury to family bonds (adultery), the greatest injury to commerce and law (bearing false witness), the greatest inter-generational obligation (honour to parents), the greatest obligation to community (truthfulness), the greatest injury to moveable property (theft).[55]
The Ten Commandments List
: You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall make no idols. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Keep the Sabbath day holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet.
Ten Commandments: King James Version God’s Law, the Ten Commandments, is expressed in Exodus 20:2-17 (KJV) with the following: “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 6. Thou shalt not kill. 7. Thou shalt not commit adultery. 8. Thou shalt not steal. 9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.” source, bible info
In
biblical Hebrew
, the Ten Commandments are called
עשרת הדברים
/
Asereth ha-D’bharîm
and in
Rabbinical Hebrew
עשרת הדיברות
(transliterated
Asereth ha-Dibroth
), both translatable as “the ten words”, “the ten sayings” or “the ten matters”.
The
Tyndale
and
Coverdale
English translations used “ten verses”. The
Geneva Bible
appears to be the first to use “tenne commandements”, which was followed by the
Bishops’ Bible
and the
Authorized Version (the “King James” version)
as “ten commandments”. Most major English versions follow the Authorized Version.
The stone tablets, as opposed to the commandments inscribed on them, are called
in
Hebrew
:
לוחות הברית
,
Luchot HaBrit
, meaning “the tablets of the
covenant
“.
The moral values of the society are based on the biblical ten commandments.

Simchat Torah or Simhat Torah Simchas Torah, Hebrew: שִׂמְחַת תּוֹרָה‬, lit., “Rejoicing of/[with the] Torah”) is a Jewish holiday that celebrates and marks the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings, and the beginning of a new cycle. Simchat Torah is a component of the Biblical Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret (“Eighth Day of Assembly”), which follows immediately after the festival of Sukkot in the month of Tishrei(occurring in mid-September to early October on the Gregorian calendar). The main celebrations of Simchat Torah take place in the synagogue during evening and morning services. In Orthodox as well as many Conservative congregations, this is the only time of year on which the Torah scrolls are taken out of the ark and read at night. In the morning, the last parashah of Deuteronomy and the first parashah of Genesis are read in the synagogue. On each occasion, when the ark is opened, the worshippers leave their seats to dance and sing with the Torah scrolls in a joyous celebration that can last for several hours.
